Is It Really Our Kids with the Disorders?

I think all of these “disorders” can be summed up as not allowing a child the freedom to express themselves and be who they are. ODD – Oppositional Defiant Disorder – what a load of manufactured crap this is. Sounds to me like the logical progression for a child who is trapped in a prison of conformity, and isn’t allowed the freedom to express who they are.

Kids don’t just suddenly spawn disorders. They’re our best reminders of the divine, so what actually goes wrong in this picture? There still exists a school of thought that thinks it’s OK to leave a baby screaming & crying itself to sleep at night.

Looking at the big picture, we should look at what is wrong with this society, that produces so many kids with so many “disorders”. We should start naming disorders for terribly incompetent parents and stop labeling the kids as the ones who are fucked up. How about “OCD”: overly controlling disorder, or “MAD” mentally abusive disorder, or my favorite: USAD, unconscious self-absorbed disorder… get my drift?

If every time a kid expresses their feelings with defiance, and they’re told to shut up, go to their room, obey, etc., how are they ever supposed to be able to process these emotions, aside from feeling shitty about themselves, and thus perpetuating the problem?Kids are a gift, not a possession. They come to us innocently, purely. And in my opinion it’s us, collectively as parents, with our desire for control, that create these issues which lead to the diagnosis of these “disorders”.
